We pride ourselves on creating the most pure beeswax. We use rainwater to purify the beeswax, our bees harvest pollen from natural forest flowers, free of pesticides.

Why Rainwater? Chlorine.

In the process of purifying beeswax, water is used to gently melt the wax, so we can seperate and filter the wax from impurities.

In this process, we use rainwater, which is collected in rainwater tanks around our farm. Many beeswax candle manufacturers overlook or ignore this very crucial point when attempting to manufacture a clean fume candle.

Chlorine must be avoided as the chlorine is absorbed by the wax and will be released as a toxic gas (chlorine dioxide) if burned in a candle.

According to the Australian Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, Chlorine fumes are potentially very hazardous and may be seriously detrimental to your health.

Effects of Chlorine

The following long-term health effects can occur at some time after exposure to chlorine dioxide and can last for months or years: irritate the lungs; repeated exposure may cause bronchitis to develop with cough, and shortness of breath. Permanent lung damage may occur, especially with repeated exposure to the vapours. There is some evidence that chlorine dioxide may damage developing foetus.
